Fall light was done when the maples were golden and the light coming through the leaves colored everything. I sat on one of the glacial rocks in my yard and painted. This year, after a dry summer, fall is less exuberant but still beautiful. I'm wishing I could go back to summertime and I'm feeling more subdued about fall and the approaching winter. I lost my Dad this year. Do you remember the old Tom Rush song called "Circle Game"? Something about "I'd like to bring back summertime and stay for just a week or two? And the refrain:
"The seasons, they go round and round
Like painted ponies we go up and down
We're captive on the carosel of time.
We can't return, we can only look
back from where we came and
go round and round in life's circle game."
The more subdued, delicate shades of brown and beige and even pink in the leaves match my mood. God has promised never to leave me. Even when I can't feel Him much, I know he is there. I really like the painting of Indian corn, not only the colors but I like the remembrance of "Thanksgiving" and the celebration between Indians and the European settlers that was part of the cause for Thanksgiving at that time.
